Screen Play!!!!

It surprised me that watching TV or playing video games can reduce a persons happiness. Many people do that as a relaxation piece, but the more you are attached to a screen the less time you are spending doing something that can give many benefits, like friends, working out, etc... These things can give people happiness and feel good about themselves. Self satisfaction does give me happiness and makes the day way better.

  1. I think you hit on something important, Michael, when you said that watching a lot of TV means you aren't doing other, more social or physically/mentally stimulating things. That makes sense to me. It is a good reminder not to spend all day watching TV!

  2. Yea I was surprised by that too! Especially how they said they recommended only watching TV for 30 minutes a day! Most of my favorite shows are and hour long!

  3. TV and video games are fun but some people are get to involved in the show or game and they get angry. Yeah I agree being out side or with friends would probably make a lot of people happier than being inside alone staring at a screen.

  4. I wasa surprised as well. I agree that there is a degree of satisfaction I get from relaxing while watching TV. Too much time spent doing any one activity is what the point of the reference was, especially when done without interaction with others or the outside world. Being satisfied with oneself is vital to happiness. If you aren't happy with yourself, why should anyone else be. It aahas to start from within. Good thought, Michael!

  5. As much as I do enjoy Xbox, I feel like once I've played more than 2 hours in a day, I'm being too lazy, so I stop and do something more active or something that makes me feel more accomplished. This varies from person to person but I can understand that the more you play video games, the less happy you feel.

  6. I can't remember the last time I played video games but I'm not dying from not playing. Actually, I got netflix and I would watch that instead of playing video games. I think that watching movies makes me happy.
